Combinatorial games are abstract strategy games with perfect information and no randomness (during the game; random setup is okay). Generally there are 2-players, who take alternating turns. Although the 2-player restriction is debatable, each turn must be distinct.
The name comes from a branch of mathematics called combinatorial game theory.
